Jubilee Banjo is a Registered Half Andalusian, born in the wilds of Wyoming. , He was bred by Gari Epp, the product of a big Heinz-57 dude string mare and Mi Valentino, a tall gray Temerario V son. He packs a big brand on his right hip as a souvenir of those days. What you notice first about Banjo is his big heart, his light hearted sense of humor, and his exceptional kindness. He will try just about ANYTHING, and he is good at EVERYTHING! His resume is longer than most people's (see below). When not amassing show honors in Open Dressage and in Half Andalusian classes regionally and at Nationals, Frances Carbonnel's school horse patiently teaches riders of all ages and skill levels. His favorite rider, Jessica Swenson, has shown him for several years with wonderful results: Banjo has been the RMHC High Point Half Andalusian for 4 years straight, and has garnered Nationals Championships in Hunt Seat, Doma Vaquera, and Western Pleasure. In 2009 Banjo was named the IALHA Half Bred Horse of the Year, and the USEF/USDF IALHA Horse of the Year (HOY) at 3rd Level Dressage Youth. In 2010, Banjo and Jessica were the USDF Region 5 Third Level Freestyle Champions and RMDS HOY at Third Level Freestyle. Not bad for a horse originally slated for a dude string! Maybe next year he will try side saddle, or carriage driving - these are the only things he hasn't tried yet - he even does a pretty decent job jumping! Banjo has just recently taken on a couple of new projects. First, he has become Frances' go-to horse for Western Dressage demonstrations. His classical training comes in mighty handy, but he can also do a fabulous WD Jog and Lope, and his Turns on the Forehand and Haunches, Shoulders-In, Half Passes and Pirouettes have been featured in two "Train The Trainers" courses for the Western Dressage Association of America. The second is that Banjo has been steadily learning the Garrocha, a Spanish art form practiced by the vaqueros in Spain. In spite of his 16h1 frame, Banjo can canter with so much collection that he makes an impressive sight as he dances in fund raisers and exhibitions including Ballet on Horseback at the Boulder County Fair. He loves the attention and puffs himself up even bigger when the crowd applauds. What a star! Jubilee Banjo is truly a horse of a lifetime.
